At Ozark Healing Center, our dual diagnosis treatment programs allow clients to recover from mental health and substance use disorder in a safe, luxury, setting.
Dual diagnosis, also known as co-occurring disorders, occurs when someone has both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition simultaneously. These co-occurring conditions often make each other worse, creating a complex and challenging cycle. For example, someone with anxiety might use alcohol or drugs to quiet their racing thoughts. Unfortunately, substance use can actually worsen anxiety symptoms over time, making the very problem they’re trying to escape even more severe.
The complex relationship between addiction and mental illness makes it much more difficult to accurately diagnose and treat each condition when addressed separately. Substance use can mask mental health symptoms, and mental health conditions can hide the severity of addiction, potentially leading to misdiagnosis or inadequate treatment if not properly evaluated. Both conditions can also significantly impact a person’s ability to function, maintain relationships, hold employment, and care for themselves.
Our dual diagnosis treatment in Arkansas provides a range of services designed to address the complexities of those with dual diagnosis disorders. Our programs include:
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) allows clients go home or to a structured sober living in the evenings while providing them with structured, critical care throughout the day. For those who need therapeutic services and all-encompassing assistance but do not require round-the-clock residential therapy, this level of care is perfect.
For those who need continuous assistance while still managing their everyday obligations at home, at work, or in school, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides the flexibility they need. Several times a week, clients attend IOP and scheduled therapy sessions that may involve family support, group therapy, and individual counseling.
Our Outpatient Program (OP) is designed for people who are moving from more intensive levels of therapy, such as PHP, IOP, or residential treatment, or for people with less severe symptoms who still want assistance. Through planned therapy sessions and continued participation in a recovery-focused support network, this program enables clients to continue with their daily routines.
Clients who receive integrated treatment for both mental health and substance use disorders may experience better outcomes, including lower relapse rates and improved quality of life. Treating both conditions simultaneously is widely recognized as the most effective approach for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
